A few weeks
ago, the annual state of origin final was shown on the giant screen under the
stars and the winners were our home state Queensland. We had a side wager with
Jo and Garry and Col and Judy (both Blues supporters) that whoever’s team lost
would take the winners to the Sterling Steakhouse for dinner.
Last night
was the night – our whole dining room table had dinner in the steakhouse – a great
meal. I went up earlier and arranged for the head waiter to decorate our table
with Qld flags and scarf – not to rub the win in at all!!?? We toasted the win with red wine and pink
champagne – all in the correct colour scheme for the maroons!
The maître d’
brought a tray of steaks and explained the cuts and weights before we made our
selection – proud of the beautiful Aussie beef.
We started
with prawn cocktail – check out the photo - they were more like mini lobster –
huge and delicious!!!
Next was
Fillet Mignon – so moist and delicious – although the serves are huge - 8 or 10
ounces for the fillet – the biggest steak on offer is 22 ounces (about ¾ kilo
of steak!!!) – served with tomatoes, spinach, corn, mushrooms and baked potatoes
with all the trimmings.
Most at our
table chose the Crème Brulee with raspberries for dessert, although the New
York Cheesecake, and Chocolate Pecan pie were also great hits.
A great night
once again – thanks to the Maroons win – we will take any excuse to celebrate!!
