The car is packed and ready to go!! |
After months of research, planning and list making the day
finally dawned – the day Mr T and myself were to fly to Sydney to join the Dawn
Princess for our 90 day odyssey to Europe.
We said goodbye to Bella, Grace our house-sitter (and
dedicated Bella spoiler) and squeezed everything into the back of our car then
headed to the airport.
The car was packed to
capacity with eight bags, (after all my culling!!) although only two suitcases
and two carry-ons were actually flying to Sydney with us. The first port of
call on our cruise is Brisbane, so we arranged for our son Robert to meet us
when we dock on Monday to hand over the extra bags – including three dozen
bottles of our favourite red wine!!
We booked into the long term parking centre – we had also
arranged for Robert to catch the train to the airport and pick up our car when
he finished work, using the spare key. He left his car at our house last week –
so he will drive our car back there and swap them over and then go down
regularly to start them and keep the battery charged – we are so blessed to
have him so close.
After my favourite type of flight, uneventful!! – we were
met in Sydney by our very good friends – Jo, the Greek Goddess and Garry also
affectionately known as Camboy – videographer extraordinaire – who are also
joining us on our adventures.
In 2011, we were lucky enough to spend 104 days on the world
cruise on this same ship. We shared our dining table with a group of eight others
who have become very firm friends, and so when this itinerary was announced, it
didn’t take many emails and phone calls to convince us that we should do it all
again – and we jumped at the chance, booking in Dec 2011.
It has been a long
wait, but finally we are here. Friday was spent shopping for last minute things
– that we didn’t know we needed until we saw it – like a plastic wine bottle
chiller – never know when it may come in handy for our sail away parties to
keep the champers cold????!!!
